Buyer’s agent and property finder in Madrid
Looking for a home in Madrid from abroad? Hundreds of listings, agents who are paid by the seller, and you can’t fly over for every viewing. I search, shortlist, view and negotiate for you, so you only travel when it’s worth it.
An independent agent on your side, not the seller’s
I’m Jaime Romero, an independent property adviser in Madrid. I don’t sell you what I have in stock, I go out and find what you actually asked for, and I only answer to you.
- I save you hours of scrolling through listings that don’t fit.
- I work only for you, never for the seller.
- I view properties and walk you through them by video call.
- I negotiate the price on your behalf.
Start with a conversation
Tell me what you’re looking for and I’ll tell you honestly whether I can help and how. If I’m not the right person for your search, I’ll say so.
Buying or renting in Madrid, handled
Tailored search
You tell me your budget, area and must-haves. I do the hunting and send you only what genuinely fits, not a list of 60 links.
Off-market homes
A good share of the best properties in Madrid never reach the portals. I work my contacts on the ground to reach them.
Price negotiation
I negotiate for you, with real market data and without the emotion of someone who has already fallen in love with the flat.
Buying or renting
Moving to Madrid and renting first? I do that too, same approach, same person looking after you.
Finding your home in Madrid, step by step
Tell me what you need
A 15-minute call. Budget, area, timing, what matters and what doesn’t. In English, no jargon.
I search the market
Portals, my contacts and off-market homes. I filter hard so you only see what’s worth your time.
We view it, even from abroad
I visit in person and show you everything by video call: the noise, the light, the neighbours, the real state of it.
I negotiate, you decide
I handle the offer and the negotiation. You decide, always with the numbers in front of you.
Areas of Madrid I cover
Looking somewhere else in Madrid? Write to me anyway, chances are I can still help.
Buyer’s agent, property finder, personal shopper: the same job
Depending on where you come from you will have heard a different name for this. They all describe the same thing: someone hired by the buyer, paid by the buyer, answering only to the buyer.
Buyer’s agent
The term most people arrive with. The role exists in Spain too, but it is far less common here, and very few people offer it to foreign buyers in English.
Buying agent or property finder
The same idea. Someone who searches the whole market for you instead of selling you what is already on their own books.
Personal shopper inmobiliario
What it is called here. If you ask a Spanish agency for a buyer’s agent you will often get a blank look, so this is the term to use locally.
The housing side of a move
I am not a relocation company. I do not handle visas, schools or shipping. I handle finding and securing the home, which is usually the part that goes wrong.
In Spain, the agent showing you the flat is not working for you
This is what catches foreign buyers out, because at home it often works the other way round.
- The agent is paid by the seller, as a percentage of the price. Their job is to get the highest price for the property, which is the opposite of your job.
- There is no single official listing system. The same home can be advertised by several agencies at different prices, and part of the market never reaches the portals at all.
- Nobody has to tell you what similar homes actually sold for. Asking prices are public, closing prices are not, so it is easy to overpay without ever knowing.
- The paperwork moves faster than you expect. Once you sign the deposit contract you are committed, and the checks all belong before that point, not after.
You pay me, so I answer to you
When I act as your buyer’s agent my fee comes from you and not from the seller. That is what lets me tell you to walk away from a property, which is something nobody paid on commission by the seller will ever do. We agree what I charge in writing before any search starts.
Buying in Madrid from abroad
Is a buyer’s agent the same as a property finder?
Why would I need one in Madrid?
Do I need to be in Spain to work with you?
Do you speak English?
Do you work for me or for the seller?
Can you find homes that aren’t advertised?
Do you handle the NIE, the mortgage or the legal side?
How much does it cost?
Just moving to Madrid?
Most people rent first. I wrote the guide I wish my clients had before landing, payslips, guarantees and the agency fee you should not be paying.

Tell me what you’re looking for
One message, in English, no commitment. I’ll tell you straight whether I can help you find it.
